U12 and U14 World Champions (2012 Maribor, SLO) Sevian Samuel (12, USA) and Troff Kayden (15, USA) are both supported by the Kasparov Chess Foundation and the St.Louis Chess Club.

U 14 World Champion IM TROFF, Kayden (USA)

They have twice a three days training course with World Champion Garry Kasparov every year while their regular training is directed by GM and FIDE Senior Trainer Alexander Chernin (HUN). Since winning their gold medals Sam collected a silver at the US Youth Ch. while Kayden finished Nr.6 tied at the USA Ch. of adults.
Kayden has already got two GM norms while Sam achieved his fourth IM norm overstepping the 2400 Rating requirement in Budapest just now. Their success has come, not for the first time, by the assistance of GM Alaxander Chernin and GM Gabor Kallai (HUN). Another great test is coming for them from 16th November since they both start at the Great Hopes GM also in Budapest that is organized by the KCF under the management of GM Gabor Kallai.
The First Saturday event has been an important station towards greater success for the two Youth World Champions like it had been for Magnus Carlsen, Teimur Radjabov, Hou Yifan, and for numerous other players who became top GM-s later.

The winner of the GM Section IM Matsenko Sergei (RUS) was only half a point away of the GM norm.

His great finish came just a little late. His mature play both tactically and strategically, will bring its fruit sooner or later. He came to Budapest with his younger brother from as far as Tseljabinsk which is at the foot of the Ural mountain.
Nobody could achieve GM norm this time because of the balanced level of players but Englert Fabian (GER) performed his first IM norm.

His coach is GM Khenkin Igor (GER).

The new Indonesian star Sean Winshand Cuhendi who celebrated his 16th birthday far away from home, defeated two GM-s and a dream of him was fulfilled since it was the first time to win against a GM.

The youngest player of the group Golubov Savely (13 RUS) missed the IM norm only with one point but he won the Hotel MEDOSZ Budapest Rapid Open the day before start. FM Kantor Gergely (14, HUN) showed up the greatest fighting spirit and exemplary sportsmanship winning six but losing five coming up after a disaster during the first five rounds.

There were two FM sections too. The brightest spot of these was a nine year old little boy Karacsonyi Gellert (HUN) winning almost all his games against experienced adult opponents.

He is coached by IM Krizsany Laszlo (HUN) and by FM Korpics Zsolt (HUN) who are running a popular and successful chess school in Budapest for children called Sakksarok (Chess-Corner).

The Hotel MEDOSZ Budapest as always, has been an excellent host for the tournament and it gives home also for the Great Hopes GM tournament coming soon.
