On 23 December 2013 the FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov had a meeting with Professor Alexander K. Golichenkov, the Dean of Faculty of Law of Lomonosov Moscow State University. At the meeting also present were: Sergey Karjakin, Ernesto Inarkiev, Vladislav Tkachev, RCF press attaché Kirill Zangalis, journalists of NTV and magazine "64 – chess review".
Faculty of Law is one of the best and most prestigious Russian institutions training jurists-professionals of the highest level. It is pleasant to mention that students of the faculty love and respect chess. Recently it was decided to set up a chess club. The realization of this idea became real after moving to the new building of the faculty.
FIDE President was invited to the opening ceremony of the club. At first Dean Golichenkov briefed all the guests on the success of the students and teachers, presented the museum and situational centre of the faculty, and only after that everybody was invited to the opening ceremony of the club. Mr. Sergey Shakhray, MSU Pro-Rector also took part in the event.
A friendly game between Mr. Golichenkov and Mr. Ilyumzhinov finished in a draw. Then Sergey Kajakin and Vladislav Tkachev played a blitz game, which delighted all the guests. Sergey Karjakin won the game playing with black pieces.
Later Saglara Irendzhenova, the leader of the faculty chess team shared the club's future plans.
